I am told that a good story should have a beginning, a middle and an end but this one only has a beginning since we have only just embarked on the journey. However, we promise to keep you up to date with our story and hope that you will join us along the way.

The story begins at the Gladwyn Hotel in Eastbourne which we have nurtured from a shabby boarding house to a successful and thriving business. Not surprisingly, this has resulted in increased occupancy rates and a greater use of the sorry no vacancies sign.

So we started looking for another place. We didn’t expect to find somewhere quite so quickly but when we found this place, we just knew that it was ideal. We fell in love and we knew our guests would love it too.

The journey starts in June 2007 when we made our first tentative steps towards the purchase of a hotel just off the seafront in Eastbourne. Unfortunately the place was under offer but we soon felt that it must have our name on it when it came back on the market a few weeks later.

At 3.30pm on Thursday 1 November 2007 the estate agent confirms that we have completed and we are now the proud owners of a derelict, grade 2 listed hotel with 26 bedrooms situated in Howard Square. The hotel is ours and the journey begins.
